2025 New Zambian Banknotes Currency: K500 & K200 Notes

As of February 2025, the Bank of Zambia has not officially announced the introduction of new K200 or K500 banknotes. The most recent significant change in Zambia’s currency occurred in 2013, when the country redenominated its currency by removing three zeros from the face value of the Kwacha. This means that the K500 note issued before 2013 is now equivalent to K0.50 in the current currency system.

In recent years, the introduced new banknotes with updated security features and designs. For example, in 2018, the launched enhanced banknotes with new security features to strengthen the currency against counterfeiting.

While there have been no specific announcements about new K200 or K500 notes, it’s possible that the may consider introducing higher denomination notes in the future to address economic factors such as inflation and the need for more convenient transactions. However, any such decision would be officially communicated.

For the most accurate and up-to-date information, it’s advisable to monitor official communications from the Bank of Zambia or reputable news sources.
